Early in 2010 this great big huge box arrived at my front gate - am now the proud owner of a TC-1 Jacquard handloom!
This is a very, very steep learning curve but with the help of Alice Schlein's and Bhakti Ziek's book "The Woven Pixel" and the use of internet I am slowly but surely making these first baby steps in Jacquard weaving. For the first few months I was just weaving in black and white, or black and cream using different shaded satins. Am using Photoshop CS3 as my design tool so that in itself was a learning curve, created a lot of presets and now feel quite comfortable with some of the structures I have been using.
Most of my work is influenced by nature and I hardly ever go anywhere without my camera. My love affairs are trees and water, especially waves and raindrops. At the moment am working on a series from pictures that I took walking around my property every time it stopped raining!

| My next step was to play with several different weft colours. It took me a while to get my head around it but am now quite comfortable with shaded satin structures using up to 4 different weft colours | I decided to get myself ArahWeave for designing projects for Jacquard weavings. At the moment am learning the ins and outs of this software which is something that will not happen overnight as the very helpful people from Arahne told me - hard for me to swallow but ohh so true! | ||
