Agnes H. Handweaver
![]() |
Agnes is a self taught weaver who first started playing with a rigid
heddle frame loom in 1992 as a hobby. She has been in love with this craft
ever since and became a passionate Fibreholic!
Over the years the big living room in her 130 year old victorian type house filled itself with one loom after the next, more and more the weaving became dominant in her live which eventually lead to a career change. Today she works from her purpose built workshop on a wonderful property in the Far North of the North Island in New Zealand and weaves mostly scarves, shawls and experimental pieces on several different looms, from 8 shaft countermarches, to 16 and 32 shaft compu dobbys and a huge drawloom with vertical draw harness attachment. She loves to work with the fine Possum/Merino/Silk blended yarns for some of her creations but thoroughly enjoys working in finer yarns. Most of her creations are available from: Exhibit A - Art and Craft Collective, Old Courthouse, Mangonui, Far North, New Zealand
and some of her work is sold at: |
